Financial Planning Consultants ( located in Lafayette, IN has an opening for a Senior Financial Planner.

Who is our ideal candidate?

  • You have a CFP designation AND 5 years experience as a financial planner (preferably in a fee-based environment).
  • FINRA Series 7 registration is required
  • You have experience working with financial planning software.
  • The best match will be well-educated and have capacity to add new business
  • MUST be extremely detail oriented and possess a high sense of urgency and critical thinking.

Expectations of the Senior Financial Planner include:

  • Developing and maintaining long-term, trust relationships with clients.
  • Listening empathetically, gathering facts, analyzing total needs and making responsible recommendations.
  • Conducting comprehensive, written annual review.
  • Prospecting for new clients on a referral basis within clearly defined markets.
  • Expanding personal knowledge and skills through joint work with fellow advisors and other professionals.
  • Utilizing Company criteria to measure activity and new client accounts to measure productivity.
  • Works with clients, attorneys, accountants, and other professionals to produce coordinated planning.
  • Maintains professional competency and is involved in a program of continuing education; CLU, ChFC, CFP, etc.
  • Belongs to associations of peer professionals (American Society of CLU/ChFC, Estate Planners Council, IARFC).
  • Personal appearance and behavior manifests professionalism and pride in self.

Prior experience IS necessary. You must be a self-starter, have the ability to multi-task, be highly organized, a team player, an aggressive problem solver and be empathic with our clients. You must think like a manager and be able to manage yourself and your time efficiently. Only individuals who are career-oriented and have the desire for a long term commitment need apply.

The Process:

Qualified candidates will be invited to schedule a 15 to 30 minute phone interview conducted by our consultant (who is the hiring manager for this position), then an in-person interview with the firm. If there is mutual ground on which to move forward, candidates will be asked to take assessments along the way. If the process moves from there, we may conduct skills testing and the applicant must pass a background check.
